The only international airport is located in Paro, Bhutan.

- As flights can be delayed due to weather conditions, we advise you to keep at least 24 hours transit time between your international flight and Druk Air/Bhutan Airlines flight (incoming and outgoing).

- Due to the weather conditions domestic flights are not always reliable. Flights can be canceled anytime without prior notice.
Travel by Land:
Phuntsholing, Gelephu and Samdrup Jongkhar are the only land border areas open to tourists traveling from or to India.
- You can also arrive/depart through Phuntsholing, the Southern Bhutan border town. Bagdogra airport, in the state of West Bengal (India), is the nearest airport approximately 5 hours’ drive from Phuntsholing.
- Gelephu, in south-central Bhutan, is another entry point to Bhutan. The nearest airport to the border town of Gelephu is at Bagdogra, West Bengal, about 6 hours’ drive away. Gelephu is aconvenient entry/exit point for travelers wishing to visit the Indian states of Sikkim, West Bengal, Assam and the North Eastern States of India along with Bhutan.
- The district of Samdrup Jongkhar in south-east Bhutan borders the Indian district of Darranga, Assam and is approximately 3 hours drive away from Guwahati, the capital city of Assam. Tourists entering Bhutan through Samdrup Jongkhar will travel to Trashigang, and from there over the lateral route to Mongar, Bumthang, Trongsa, Wangdue Phodrang and then finally into the capital, Thimphu. The distance is about 700 km and will take you a minimum of three days to reach Thimphu.
